If i change my status from H1 to F1 until approval of 140 and change status from F1 to H1 will affect my green card process? I heard that once 140 is approved one will get 3 years extension irrespective of status ( i mean on F1 or out of country) . Please clarify

It seems like every one is yelling and trying to make others feel low if they didn't attend rally or didn't contribute...
The website is free and its up to individuals to do what ever they want ...
May be they will feel the heat or retrogression after 2 years or so and start doing something about it (like contributing..

there is no rule that says your spouse must have your last name. it is just your personal preference. (i am talking from the prespective of immigration application)

1. AC21 - get it all done with new company ? Job title from Sr.Qa to SAP BI would it be a problem?
If any RFE comes, new company should be able to support as per job description/title in Labor which they won't I believe.
2. Temporary resignation and rejoining - is it really feasible?
I don't think you need to resign something in particular.
You can work with SAP company and when your date is becoming current move to QA Company and you should be good. Its like filing AC-21 to SAP company and again filing AC-21 to QA Company.
I know lot of people do this who are working on EAD. Generally you know your date will be current in next year. So you can work for SAP untill June/july-2011 and then move back to QA Company before date becomes current.
3. Stay with current company - try for contract positions even if it means that I have to stay long on bench. I have been already out since Aug.
Your choice and lets wait for some Guru's answers.

Physicians measures:
We have been actively engaged in discussions with senate leaders on physician issue over the last few months. Members of our chapter traveled to DC to attend a key Senate task force meeting on physician immigration and current challenges. We also attended the AAPI legislative day event in DC and found support from lawmakers and from AAPI.
We strongly encourage everyone to be strongly behind the administrative fixes campaign, as this will bring considerable relief while we battle for immigration reform. letters from physicians and their colleagues will carry their own weight. Ask your employers too and approach your lawmakers!
Our efforts have shown signs of bearing fruit in recent times. Recently we were privileged to be part of a discussion on an upcoming physician bill that would satisfy our primary agenda: quota free green cards for physicians that serve in under served areas. The current proposal would encompass both J1 and H1B physicians. This would be an interim step towards reform- a more wide ranging bill is expected in the future.
We are hoping that this bill can be brought up for voting at some point in the near future. We will need help from many physician members to achieve our objective. A successful result would resolve the entire issue for many physicians AND would establish for the first time a principal that IV has espoused: skilled immigrants that work in the national interest should not be bound by quotas. This precedent would go along way in resolving the larger immigration morass as well.
The chapter thanks all it's active members and IV for the efforts and support that have led us this far. If you want to join the physicians chapter, use the links in my signature. Remember that membership is contingent upon disclosing at least your name and contact number, which is kept confidential at all times.

Hello,
My brother-in-law and sister are both Indian Doctors, having a private practice in INDIA. They would like to apply for visitor's visa.
Any suggestion about the problems they may encounter? Do they have to go on two differrent dates for getting the visa stampped at Chennai?

The chances to get visa is 1% as they know why they come here even though you say that they come here for visiting.The documentation is same as for B2 visa.

I did not see any updates on my I140 but just the update on my already approved H1b case.

Inform the school that you have changed your status to H1 from F1 and need not take class. If needed provide them the H1 approval. Most people forget to inform school and the school will record sevis violation on you which will provide problems at stamping and port of entry.

Can we have the scanned copy of this letter posted on IV's homepage? Either replace the image for Sept 18th rally or put it above it so that its the first thing people see on the homepage. After the campaign is over we can change it back to what it was.

Does that mean we are no more after the goal of I-485 provision (attached to appropriation bills in Feb) due to lack of contributions? There has been several posts even in other forums saying that IV has dropped this goal, and I tried quite a few times now to get some form of confirmation/denial from any of the core members, but without any luck yet. Also logiclife's announcement was removed from the home page!!
It does mean that me need more funds. IV has not announced it has dropped the I485 idea. Now a lot depends on us, the members.

That's useful to know thought it was just mine that was taking forever. My PWD request was submitted January 27th. 9 weeks later still waiting. Should I just wait in the hope that my company's lawyer is keeping track and knows to submit another PWD request?

I think the labor certification is slowing going back to 2 years approval time including PWD. 3-6 months for PWD and 1 year to 2.5 years for Labor.

No FP Yet, July 22nd Filer. I tried CSR # few times and finally got hold of someone who was kind -enough.
According to her, there are LOT OF PEOPLE in the same boat and she recieves this phone call more than any other queries.
She said, all she can do is to request Service center for FP status but here is the glitch, Request from CSR to Service Center takes 90 days to process and count another 90 days for the response to be read by CSR and issue a new FP.
Again, she kept saying that these are just numbers from top of her head and nothing is written on stone.
Hope this helps-

Nope...once you have used your EAD you cannot go back to H1-B. AFAIK.
